A poem

Smile,
Awhile.
Why not?
Forgot?
Give yourself a moment's rest.
Smiling helps us be our best.
Not allowing outside things,
To get us down, or clip our wings.
For we are children of the One,
So don't deprive yourself true fun
For in it's spirit we can be
Victors for eternity.

I'm going have to support Scotland (but grudgingly)

Australia's first game in the up and coming cricket World Cup is against Scotland and if the Aussies recent form is anything to go by, the Scots must be fancying their chances. It goes against my grain as an Englishman but I would like nothing more than to see Australia slump to defeat against them. If you are not up with cricket, Scotland beating Australia would be like Andorra beating Brazil in football - i.e. just unthinkable. As for Englands chances, I'll be happy to get through the group stage and then who knows - anyone can beat anyone on their day. Semi finals would be a brilliant achievement for the team. I'm just happy to see the Australians in such turmoil at the moment.

Thats it, just a quick post for today - have had a long drive back from the work offices in Ellesmere Port and am officially shagged.

Au revoir.

Snow, snow, snow

Just to counteract Chris' post about the lack of snow he has had, here is a post to show what happened in Swansea the day after he left. How gutting.

This snow settled in a matter of an hour or so. I took Lydia up to Tycoch for an appointment at 10am and it was settling up there. I sat in the car waiting for her and that whole time I had to keep the heaters on full blast and windscreen wipers going to clear the snow. Not good for the environment I know but otherwise we may well have been stuck. We drove back to Mount Pleasant and this is what we found. Driving was interesting shall we say! Many cars were parked very neatly into the wall.

We ventured out in the snow with Jose and had some fun in the snow and took in the beautiful view of the Swan with a covering of snow.

Apologies to Chris for missing the snow by a day but he wouldn't have got out of Swansea on the friday as all trains were cancelled. How fun! Luckily it has cleared the next day for me to drive home so all was good.

Here's to more snow. What are the chances Chris my good man?

Blogging

I have never really thought that it was worth me doing a blog. I always thought that I wouldn't know what to say. But then I thought, why not start a blog and see what I can think of writing on it. Hence here is my blog and here is me trying to think of something to say.

I have just read a news article which gave me a reason to be glad that I do not live in Wales still. A man had to be taken to hospital in a fire engine as all the local ambulances were busy. The incident took place in Maesteg which is in central south Wales so it wasn't like it happened in rural mid or west Wales. And it wasn't like the man just broke a leg - he was stabbed and a man has been charged with attempted murder.

I congratulate the fire service for their actions but what state does the NHS in Wales have to be in for this to happen? Maybe they shouldn't be heavily subsidising prescriptions charges (everyone over 60 and under 25 get them free, everyone else only has to pay £3) and should charge like in England. In my 4 years at uni, I got all my prescriptions for free. I made sure that I got my hayfever medication for the summer months before I left to go home so I didn't have to pay for it. I see this exercise of low subscriptions charges as pure buttering up of the public so they don't think the health service in Wales is that bad. All that it is doing is starving an already underfunded NHS. I may well be missinformed but it is my opinion.

And thats my rant over! And that is my first blog post over! I will be blogging on anything I see that amuses me or riles me and gets my blood boiling. Or anything else fun.

Ciao.
